Why Gambia Police Pose with Arrested Criminals without Handcuff…Waiting to Lose Police Eye or Tooth?

We keep seeing this pattern whenever police in The Gambia arrest suspects or even broad daylight criminals they triumphantly pose with for photos.

But we seldom see those criminals in restraints. We are not security experts. But we see our forces exposed to danger.

And we feel this should be security 101 lesson to first restraint or handcuff a suspect upon arrest not just to protect the community, but also the police officers. 

Look at the pictures attached to this article and see how free the suspects are—some using their hands to hide their faces.

One has to be very careful with someone who has very little or nothing to lose. It is only a matter of seconds before a poor police officer trying to do his or her job gets punched in the face to lose an eye or tooth.

Isn’t this commonsense, if not a job PPE (personal protective equipment)? Look at the photos below and see that none of the arrested offenders is restrained.
