Following our report that D.A Jawo has been discussed as a target for the Barrow government’s series of angry arrests and detention, the latter who is a former information minister, in a phone conversation with this editor Monday laughed off the tip.

His laughter amused this editor and reminded him of the same valor D.A has always been known for since this editor’s early days of journalism in 1999.

Here is his reaction verbatim:

“Forgambia News,

While I appreciate the concern expressed for my safety and the prediction that I may be one of those being targeted for arrest by security operatives, I wish to indicate that I have committed no crime to make me any target for arrest.  I am merely expressing my views on issues of national concern and no amount of threats or intimidation would make me stop that. I consider it as my birthright to comment on any such national issue regardless of whom it concerns.  Therefore such rumours of my pending arrest do not the least scare me.”

It was the same informers that tipped us about Madi Jobarteh’s arrests days before it happened as was the case with sinister moves against Pa Modou, Kerr Fatou, and many others in the list we published here.

We want to make it clear that these were and are not predictions. A prediction is a prognostication which we are not doing. We have our sources we don’t need to write a dot on, nor spend a nano-second bragging about! What we report is only vignettes of a broader move. But what people do is their bonafide choice. We commend D.A for the bravery!

Madi didn’t commit any crime! Yankuba darboe didn’t commit any crime! Momodou Sabally didn’t commit any crime as didn’t Ramou Sabally, Alhaji Bora, Baiyo Sonko, the list goes on! The gov’t we are dealing with doesn’t respond to reason. It acts out of anger, frustration, and despair!
