Before Talib Bensouda and his co-religionists, it was Ramou Sabally, Momodou Sabally, and those we might not recall. There is also MC Cham jr., now and perhaps other closet hamsters.

Before we explain what happened while we were all asleep, here is a simple sad question: When will the UDP learn? We are really tired of rooting for a group that rewards dogma at the expense of facts, critical-thinking, statistics, and analytical data.

Gold diggers understand that flattery is a stock-in-trade the UDP savors. They flatter Ousainou Darboe to a deity status. Some extol him to a Mandela apex. Others dress him in a Bellona’s bridegroom borrowed robes!

If we fact-check the above, Solo Sandeng did for Gambia what Mandela didn’t for South Africa. Nothing can replace life except paradise! But tell a dogmatic UDP die-hard this and hell breaks loose!

If we really remain true to true sacrifice, Solo Sandeng’s children should have been premium picks for flag-bearing. And one bore-hole dug by any Gambian outweighs all the so-called sacrifices of Ousainou Darboe.

Sanjally Bojang’s children are alive. They never impose themselves on Gambians when most of us seldom understand that he formed the PPP and propelled Jawara to its zenith.

Sanjally’s sacrifices far sweep Ousainou’s. But Gambians don’t even know it was because of Sanjally voting rights later extended beyond Banjul and KMC.

Sanjally and his team told the colonial gov’t in Banjul that Gambia wasn’t just Bandjul and parts of Serrekunda. When the first elections were held, United Party (UP’s) Pierre Njie won because West Coast, LRR, CRR, URR, NBD didn’t vote.

Pierre Njie was gutted! He used to call Jawara, according to sources, “Son of a peasant” who should not rule. Talib Bensouda, this is the reason we warned you in 2023 to beware of the “Ides of Pierre!”

If you think Gambia is just KMC, please “read mine, O Caesar!” The UDP and Talib are spreading a golden carpet for Barrow for another lease! It’s baffling how people don’t want to learn from recent history!

The British, with all their idiosyncrasies of empire listened to Sanjally and decided from his right, Pierre’s fright, and Jawara’s fight. Pierre went to his grave with this anguish.

But not even a library was built in Sanjally’s honor, O Gambia! Not even a street to his name in Banjul, O critical thinker! In fact, his children today, build schools and put other people’s names on them. See how humble these folks have been!

If Sanjally’s children never feel entitled to Gambia’s high office as aren’t Solo Sandeng’s, why should one Ousainou Darboe hold the country’s opposition unity hostage for almost three decades?

And Ousainou isn’t surrounded by technocrats or educated and experienced folks except Dr. Lamin Manneh who just arrived. Like Yahya Jammeh, Ousainou  is addicted to tales of sycophancy and flattery.

Momodou Sabally mastered this art and leeched his way to “Baba La Commando.” Ramou Sabally ditto! Talib Bensouda knew this and sang the man’s praises without which he would never have been mayor.

Talib’s disciples such as MC Cham jr., copy-pasted this coding and received a ticket to China. When you surround yourself with the uneducated and unexperienced, yours becomes a milieu of undeserved praises and cult followership that never really take you anywhere.

All a gold-digger has to do is heap praises on one man: Ousainou Darboe and dogmatic UDP cultists will accept you or even propel you to an executive height. Ask Momodou Sabally if this is far-fetched.

Sabally fooled the UDP; his sister Ramou did the same. MC Cham did it. Talib did it. The list goes on! And the UDP doesn’t look like it’s ever going to learn. Dogma and cult don’t  build a nation; knowledge, skill, fairness, and honesty do!

The tiny country of Singapore operates on Meritocracy, Pragmatism, and Honesty. Its people select the best qualified candidates for positions from among those that best deserve them, are honest and pragmatic. That’s why this news site has that Singaporean slogan since its inception in 2019. What a sad time to be Gambian!
