Did a Marabout’s Prediction that Barrow Won’t Last Beyond 5yrs, “End Will Be Ugly” Scare Ba Tambadou—Thus He Resigned?

Very sensitive sources have been telling forGambia News & Radio some whistle blows we will rather put in question marks about Ba Tambadou, former Justice Minister of the corrupt and inept Barrow government that clearly does not show interest in the wellbeing of citizens of the Gambia.

Mr. Tambadou, sources allege was privy to a prognostication by a foreign marabout we will choose not to disclose, whom, upon consultation by the Barrow gang warned that “lasting even five years in power might be a challenge for Adama Barrow. And the end would be ugly for his government if he goes beyond that five years.”

We have been privy to some very sensitive and private conversations of Ba Tambaou while he was in government. We gave him respite for a reason. There was a time we reported his fragile rapport with Adama Barrow, especially when he gave his advice about the Faraba incident, Yahya Jammeh’s come-back, etc.

Ba’s private conversations showed he was clearly very unhappy. But he had to build his resume to look for greener pasture. And Adama Barrow and his ignorance about the world was an ideal fulcrum. Clearly, the U.N doesn’t need Ba Tambadou, of all legal experts with colorful curriculum vitae in this world.

When Ba was justice minister, youths were killed in Faraba during a protest. Haruna Jatta was also gunned down in Kanilai. The Gunjur and Berrending land disputes and the killing of one native also occurred under his stewardship as did the Taneneh incident.

The Golden Lead environmental pollution and the foreign company’s altercations with the people of Gunjur were all under Ba’s watch as were the diplomatic passport sale to foreigners and undeserving hands—a dark deal that gave these important documents to Tambadou’s own family members.

The excuse Ba gave for issuing our diplomatic passport to his own family members was that his mother was sick and needed a visa to travel overseas. How many Gambians lose their parents or other family members to diseases that they would really want to treat abroad?

The government’s “White Paper” was another abomination! It paraded preferential treatment at its zenith where Momodou Sabally and some other Jammeh employees were mentioned. But Mamburreh Njie, Alhagie Ceesay, etc., are still serving Barrow. But Sabally has to be punished.

The Janneh Commision and TRRC are both siphoning a fortune from our coffers when most Gambians can’t afford the next meal. These could both be run by volunteer lawyers who won’t ask for a dime from a small country that suffered a 22-year dictatorship.

Ba Tambadou was the legal adviser of this terrible government while all these happened. How much are they paying Essa Faal for running a theatrical? How much are they paying Amie Bensouda—another signatory to some of the land deals of Yahya Jammeh the commission found clandestine? But Amie is spared where Sabally is harmed.

How many times have salaries been late for low-paid Gambian workers? And how muddy and unkempt are our streets while all these were happening under Ba Tambadou? We will pursue all these corrupt officials and bring them to justice—or they will also end in exile while Gambia prospers.
