The Governor of Central River Region, Mr. Sulayman Barry has been replaced and subsequently deployed to the ministry of energy as deputy permanent secretary.
The reasons surrounding Barry’s removal were sketchy, but a close source to the governor’s office told this medium that “Governor Barry, to the surprise of everybody refused to yield to the demand of Barrow Youth Movement who were on tour at the time to hold their scheduled meeting at the governor’s office and premises.”
There was a heated argument between them and the governor who totally refused to succumb to their request.” Mr. Barry told the movement that his offices is not a political place and that as far as he’s the governor nothing of such would happen here.” What follows next was Barry’s immediate removal from the governorship because that did not go well with his boss, President Barrow.
Sulayman Barry is said to be a very principled individual and very respectful according to his peers familiar with him in his home town in Kombo Lamin. He was a lecturer at the Gambian college and worked at the GRA before he was appointed as governor in 2017.
