3-YRS JOTNA'S SUWAREH LAMENTS YOUTHS’ DESPAIR

As He Chides Barrow for Using Taxpayer Money to Buy Support

L-Suwareh R-Barrow
Three Years Jotna’s Hagi Suwareh has renewed rebuke of Gambia’s leader he calls “accidental president,” citing the country’s economic and financial morass while its once trusted ship-steerer veers off his sacrosanct word. That word is a promise to serve a three-year transitional term before a fresh election would usher in a new president in a fresh contest without Adama Barrow.
Mr. Suwareh was speaking to forGambia Sunday, in a jeremiad of Gambia’s economic, youth unemployment as well as security lapses and liabilities the Barrow administration is apathetic to, thanks to greed and a quest for longevity in power.
He stated that about 70% of Gambia’s youth is unemployed. The remaining 30%, he believes lives a hand-to-mouth subsistence, locally dubbed “raba-raba.” Hope, in Barrow’s Gambia, according to Suwareh is not even a bun, especially in a world where foreign vessels are issued fishing licenses to indiscriminately fish and deplete our marine life.
“To eat a good lady fish means spending a thousand Dalasis nowadays. This is because there is very little left in our waters in the wake of strong foreign vessels presence which are trained and well-equipped. “They take most of our fish overseas,” Mr. Suwareh continued. He remonstrated the security question Gambia currently faces. “We want ECOMIG to understand that they came after Yahya Jammeh to protect the will of the masses, not Barrow. It’s the same Barrow who promised the same masses about a three-year tenure,” he argued. Below is enumerated some salient points of Suwareh’s philippic:
1. Barrow is someone who accidentally became Gambian President in 2016, just like Jammeh when the junta overthrew President Jawara and Jammeh accidentally became chairman.
2. Barrow is a replicate of former dictator Yahya Jammeh, a killer and organizer of secrete killings.
3. Barrow is someone who wants to use the then AFPRC system by promising Gambians he would only stay for three years like AFPRC promised six months and ended up killing Gambians—both civilians and security personnel for 22 years. This is exactly what Barrow is trying to do by breaking the coalition agreement.
4. Barrow is someone who called APRC government thieves who emptied our coffers. But he is more than the word corrupt by employing majority of his close family members and enriching himself with tax payer money.
5. Barrow called himself content but he is the greediest President that has ever ruled The Gambia.
6. Barrow said he is a man of his words by appointing Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang as vice president. She was not constitutionally qualified, but Barrow made sure he kept his promise to her by changing the constitution. Why can’t he keep his 3-year promise with Gambians the same way?
7. Barrow said Yahya Jammeh was selling everything including shoes. What about him? He opens businesses in the names of people, including a boutique of meat in his village.
8. Barrow uses tax payer money to pay people to follow him.
9. Barrow is using tribes against one another to prolong his stay in power.
10. Barrow is hiring and naturalizing foreigners to enter in Gambian politics, especially those based in the Gambia.
11. Barrow is a silent dictator who only speaks of freedom of press, but is selective about it. His doors of governance are closed and open only to people who support him.
12. Barrow only thinks of himself, like Jammeh. If citizens are killed, he treats their deaths like dogs. When Gambians are killed, for example, in the case of Ousman Darboe in Serrekunda, the Brikama woman, as well as Secka, the university student, Barrow doesn’t show concern. These were killed by security men.
13. Barrow is selfish and lacks integrity and dignity. That’s why he betrayed the coalition and Gambians.
14. Barrow only wants to fool and use Gambian youths but has no sustainable future planning for them, especially in creating employment and skills improvement opportunities for them to stop dying through the back way. And he’s fooling the world that there is employment in The Gambia.
15.Barrow has no security planned for the citizens. There is too much of drug trafficking and human trafficking in the country right now. Finally, there a stifle on freedom of assembly and the draconian laws to defend a dictator are still effective in the country to stop people from exercising their rights.
If you don’t know Barrow, here he is. Coalition three years agreement must stand to save our country from going to hell again.
Editor’s Note: Those are Suwareh’s remonstrances. While we treat them as his political and civic right, we stress the need for all parties, government or otherwise to cherish Gambia’s peace and stability. We draw the Barrow administration’s keenest attention to anything that sows mass discontent and indignation, especially a lack of hope and reasonable opportunities for the youth.
Under no circumstances should fishing licenses be issued to encourage indiscriminate activity that continues to impoverish the already poor. If new jobs aren’t created, old ones locally assumed for subsistence should not be endangered or destroyed by those who take both catch and profit to where they really value domicile.
There is no place like home. And there is none to value that home’s peaceful fare and prosperity better than its indigenous. The country’s security is best in the hands of that same indigenous, not a neighboring vulture hell-bent on economically prostituting Gambia. The SSR program and E.U funding should not be a goldmine for Senegal where a stable Gambia means go home. That stable Gambia means no more Euros to such special interest perpetrated by those with sharp claws in this small nation’s economic viscera.
