The first duty of any gov't is to protect life and property. Building roads and laying useless foundation stones is quite sickening if this first duty is neglected.

The negligence galore in Barrow’s Gambia continues to assault every critical-thinking mind. Forget about assessing him since he came to power. Just start counting from 2021, the year he stole the elections:

  1. A young lady (Fatoumatta Kargbo) stabbed to death by a robber at Westfield Forex Bureau (January 2024).
  1. Thursday, April 25, 2024, a body discovered on Mansea Beach later identified as Sainey Jassey.
  1. Ndofan Village on September 29th 2025, a four-year-old boy, Musa Manneh, was hit with a stone on his head by 16-year-old Samba Faal. Musa would later die.
  1. September 29th 2025, in Daru Rilwan, Modou Njie 15 was reportedly stabbed to death by Mutarr Jawara, 13. During an altercation, Mutarr allegedly stabbed Modou in the neck with a sickle. Modou later died at Njaba Kunda Health Centre.
  1. July 2024: A body found in Foni Kampant in a gutter. The hands of the deceased were tied.

January 29–February 1, 2025 — Multiple homicide incidents:

  1. Moussa Bâ (elderly Senegalese marabout) killed in Bansang.
  1. Nyakassi Jawneh of Wellingara found dead.
  1. Abdou Rahman Jallow (21) allegedly murdered by his sister in Dippa Kunda.
  1. Karamo Jobe stabbed to death (allegedly by his wife) in Sinchu Malado.
  1. September 4, 2022 — Murder of a 62-year-old woman in Bakau, Fajara: Two suspects (aged 20–25) were arrested in connection with the murder at her residence.
  1. Known reported murders in 2021: Busumbala murder & other unsolved cases:

A high-school student, Marie Mendy of Busumbala was found mutilated; another man Zilson Gomez was found dead (believed to interconnected). Other unsolved cases for that year included Yusupha Tabally stabbed at Dippa Kunda, and Mariama Jaw killed with a pestle-like object.

  1. September 16th 2025: Sheriff Colley, 60 of Kil-ling village in the West Coast Region was murdered at his farm. Colley came from the family that founded Kil-ling. He was uncle to the current Alkalo of the village, Zakaria Colley.
  1. September 26th 2026: Omar Badjie of Mandinary allegedly beaten to death by paramilitary men.
  1. December 2020: The body of Alimatou Sarr of Tanji was found in the bushes of Paradise Hotel. Killer fled to Guinea Conakry.
  1. May 2021, Mandinary: Maram Jaw, 36 years was stabbed to death by Mario Mendy in Mandinary.
  1. Friday, May 14th 2021: Sereign (Last name unknown), murdered for a bag he was carrying in Westfield, Serrekunda.
  1. Saturday, December 20th 2025: 21-year-old Isatou Fatty from Tallingding found dead at work (Heewal Forex Bureau in Brusubi). Fatouma Kargbo was killed at a forex bureau 23 months earlier in West Field, only three to five kilometers away from Isatou fatty’s killing location.

This is just an unofficial attempt at enumerating the statistics because the Gambia gov’t would refuse to release official stats. There are many names not on this list.

Lack of Problem-Solver Mindset

Gambia has been a terribly backward country that continues to elect humans that would score pathetically poor on the human development index and Intelligence Quotient indices.

Give the above stats to a 12-year-old in Norway, Britain, or Singapore and see what he or she would say. Instead of working to solve these easily solvable problems, the Barrow administration just recently wasted D52 million on a good-for-nothing tour by good-for-nothing officials praised by good-for-nothing knuckleheads!

How many police vehicles and robust security infrastructure could be purchased from D52 million? The same good-for-nothing gov’t bought 89 luxury vehicles (SUVs, Prados, Mercedes-Benz), costing nearly €10 million (over D760 million Dalasis) for a few-days event.

€10 million when people are sleeping on the floor in hospitals amid devastating inflation and extreme economic hardship helped by dizzying heights of corruption and abuse of office! Yes, you read that right!

We are talking about a gov’t that still can’t tackle broad daylight “drifters” (wayward young drivers from broken homes and families engaged in dangerous driving and injuring pedestrians and helpless vendors).

But if you write an article against Barrow’s NPP or release some audio the gov’t doesn’t like, you’re attacked or arrested right away! Amid all these murders and other crimes, the good-for-nothing gov’t sent Dr. Ismaila Ceesay to Senegal to attack forgambia News last October.

Gambians can continue to die like flies. The Barrow gov’t won’t act or care as long as Barrow can stay in power. The only time this gov’t shows energy and interest is when something faintly threatens corruption, financial mismanagement, abuse of office, or Barrow’s stay in power.

Worse, we don’t have many good critical thinkers in the opposition to tackle Barrow. Critical thinking has been scarce in the Gambian political space, but especially in the opposition. With all Gambia is going through, the irrational main opposition party hates critical thinking, showing more exuberance in cult more than country.
