OUT OF 199 COUNTRIES, GAMBIA BETTER THAN ONLY 5: CAPE VERDE, GUATEMALA, LIBERIA, SIERRA LEONE, AND NEPAL!

We are not saying it is a perfect measure of human intelligence, but agree that it speaks a lot about a person’s basic understanding and reasoning capabilities. The Gambia, our country has performed above only the above five countries out of 199 countries measured. This is macabre! Is this why we have a president like the one we currently have…the one who kills hippos for sacrifice?
That president may not be our only problem if this study is right! And we suspect it to be right considering how we do things as Gambians:
- We dish out millions to Wally Ballago Seck or Youssou Ndour. We see, sometimes, one Gambian doing this when our hospitals don’t have the basics of supplies.
- Our leaders use us to get into office and forget us as soon as they start riding in luxury vehicles, the fuels of which we pay from our meagre resources that should have been funding those poor and pathetic hospitals that are almost like death traps; yet we still keep voting for the same or similar thieves and low-IQ leaders, parliamentarians, etc.
- Some of us don’t even know why we vote or what we should vote for. Instead, we see elections as a chance to mud-sling or showcase tribal affiliations, not what serves the country’s best interest. Isn’t this troubling?
- We continue to produce some of the dumbest leaders, representatives, [a national assembly member recently shouted “mices” or “mouses”], dim-witted public officials, etc., who live in shacks but build mansions few months after assuming office.
- Worse, our leaders that we should really call thieves see their actions as success stories. Their marabouts, inner circles and family members praise them for it!
This list could go on. But it’s so disheartening and because of the above report, we are again doing the least we can to support intellectual growth, critical thinking skills, or academic inspiration in our motherland.
Consequently, we will be giving out cash prizes to winning students in essay competitions from the University of The Gambia, Gambia College, GTTI, MDI, high schools, middle schools, lower basic schools, etc.,
Any student can register by simply filling the registration form below which takes less than two minutes to do. Our reps will supervise the on-the-spot writings of short essays to avoid cheating or interference. We will assign the topics.
We will publish winners at the end of each competition which we hope to hold every two weeks or at least, monthly. Few decades ago, China was really poor. The West invaded, bombed and slaughtered them with abandon. The Chinese immediately realised the value of information and knowledge. They came with the Chinese cultural revolution which simply meant a “change of attitude.” Today, China ranks number one followed by Singapore, Hong kong and other Asian countries in the world IQ index. They manufacture almost everything they need, from nuclear technology to chips and J35 bombers.
Please share this registration page to as many Gambian students as possible. We publish this with a very troubled heart!
