The National Youth President of Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), MC Cham Jr., has lamented that Adama Barrow isn’t sincere about neither election bill, nor election reform in this election year in The Gambia. Cham also expressed worry that people, institutions, and media houses will be compromised while Barrow and his team resort to everything to win the December polls. The eloquent stalwart expressed the statements in a release sent to forGambia Tuesday morning, April 27th 2021. Below, we reproduce the release:

President Barrow and his team are just playing games to buy time around the election bill. Neither the IEC nor the Executive is committed to election reform.

In the next months to come we should expect a lot of proposals and fancy initiatives. It is election year, you can say anything.

Was it not the same president who promised you a new constitution, security sector reform, civil service reform, the fight against corruption etc?

Was it not the same president who promised to serve you three years? Hasn’t he failed almost all his key promises. What makes you think he will deliver new promises in 8 months to elections?

They will come all out to win the election. In doing so, people and institutions will be compromised. Media houses will be compromised but men and women with integrity will remain loyal and stand for Gambia against these criminals.

We will fight tooth and nail to make sure these criminals are ousted! Gambia will win against these criminals and they will face their crimes.

Editor’s Note:

We concur wholeheartedly with Mc Cham Jr. in these thoughts! There are media houses that have already been compromised! There are people that have already been compromised! And there are institutions that are already beyond compromised! And we’ve been lamenting that Barrow will do everything to stay in power!

It is up to conscious Gambians to fight “tooth-and-nail” to rescue our motherland from corrupt and power-hungry behemoths. We have a terribly corrupt gov’t that is busy filling its corrupt pockets while most Gambians are struggling to afford the sky-rocketing consumer good prices.

Our people are dying everyday, not just in neglected hospitals, but streets, bushes, farmlands, etc. Like we put it before, it’s now easier to find a dead body in the streets of Gambia than afford the basic commodities. Since we made those statements on air earlier this month, more and more bodies are being discovered, including that of minors.

Our sovereignty has been basket-handed to Macky Sall and Senegal. Senegalese businesses are killing our locally-owned Gambian businesses on Gambian soil. Indians are doing the same. Jimpex road used to be run by Gambians. Now only one shop is owned by a Gambian the last time we checked. Inevitably, prices go up!

Foreign nationals from Senegal or Guinea can attack our immigration offices and injure our Gambian officials. They wouldn’t be taught a serious lesson. The only time we see Barrow’s might is when Three Years Jotna or another pressure group exercises a constitutional right. Gambians are angry beyond the limit!

And Barrow knows it! That’s why his NPP still hasn’t had a congress or selected an executive. But they’re doing everything behind the scenes to corrupt our institutions, people, and media houses just to rig or win this crucial election in December! MC is absolutely right! And most dangerously, our tiny Gambia’s land is being sold to foreign nationals cheap! Those so-called friends of Gambia or investors later turn around, cut the land into little plots, and sell them to other people at exorbitant prices! Adama Barrow is destroying Gambia and our children’s future beyond repair!
