His alleged arrest is linked to the much-publicized return of former president Yahya Jammeh to The Gambia. Sources say Mr. Sanyang is questioned about which former Gambia National Army soldiers participated in the recent preparations in Kanilai in anticipation of Jammeh’s self-announced return.

The Gambia’s NIA is reported to have listed names of former soldiers believed to be part of the Kanilai preps and are believed to be under state surveilance. Generals, colonels, majors, Captains, lieutenants, and many ranked officers as well as civilians are reportedly under state surveillance. 

CDS Mommar Cham, forGambia was told is the only trusted military associate not under the alleged surveillance. Clearly, Jammeh’s announcement which we ignored and never reported here has rattled many cages.

Meanwhile, another development we cannot confrim is that Jammeh would be going through a third-party country in Gambia’s subregion before his purported arrival in The Gambia this coming Monday November 24th.

Ecowas is also convening a meeting in January 2026 in Abuja to remove Nigerian soldiers from The Gambia in the wake of Trump’s threats of sending military forces to Nigeria.

Also, Jerrending was interrogated about what exactly Jammeh told them recently regarding his coming. We at forGambia News don’t believe Jammeh is coming to The Gambia this month, one of the reasons we refrained from publishing anything about it.
