The Senior Communications Officer of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Gambia chapter, Mr. Nyang Njie said he resigned from his position out of “choice” and his “right” as a citizen.
The eloquent Njie was never uncharitable to any entity in responding to questions pertaining to his well-circulated resignation. Instead, he stressed the significance of a non-disclosure agreement as well as professional ethics when it comes to speaking about whatever might have precipitated his and his colleague’s decision.
Mr. Njie was speaking to forGambia in a short interview Wednesday morning. He said he could speak for himself about the resignations that besotted the OIC’s Gambia chapter few days ago. The same wind of resignation also swept the Chief Executive Officer and head of the OIC Gambia Secretariat, Lamin Sanneh.
Njie reiterated that it was his choice to pick a job from the secretariat as is now his same right and choice to resign with good discretion. He mentioned the insignificance of any negativity attached to such action which he only took in good terms.
He was quick to dismiss the kind of reporting some media houses did on the said resignation which he believed was not necessary. Mr. Njie does some good-samaritan photo journalism and documentary production about the Gambia, the expenses of which he said is usually covered from his own pocket. forGambia will publish a full interview with Mr. Njie about such work in a country we all love.
