A Look at Something
No Gambian Can Ever
be Proud of!

This is why we have been telling Barrow not to stay longer in power. Power is an aphrodisiac!  If Jammeh hadn’t chosen to overstay, he wouldn’t have been as brutal as he got later. Eight years is enough for any modern ruler who is there for the people and not his pocket or lifestyle.

But look at the above picture, please. It doesn’t matter if two or three people had died in the ordeal or whether the figures have been corrupted. African leaders should have  all met back in history and agreed on term limit for all leaders in the continent.

As we type this, we are witnessing another Yahya Jammeh in The Gambia who has broken all promises and earlier commitments just to stay in power! And they start the same way, usually; that they would just be there for few years and leave. We are all sad that our little country is in the headlines again. But how many of us are really thinking of eradicating what led to this massacre in the first place? Adama Barrow and NPP, are you listening?

We are not saying it was Jammeh who ordered the killings. What has been explicit is the fact that Jammeh was extremely paranoid at some point. Granted, he had suffered so many coup attempts.

But wasn’t his coming to power an attempt to put an end to someone else’s overstay? He ended up with just a seven years difference with that predecessor. This is really sad and bad history for us and our children! Will we ever have a leader who will say eight years term limit, period?
