Barrow Plans to Rig, Postpone,
or Register Foreigners!
We spoke to GDC’s National Youth President, MC Cham Jr. who confirmed to forGambia, another one of the series of attempts made by President Adama Barrow’s NPP to buy with cash and car prominent Gambians belonging to opposition parties. The failing NPP’s latest fiasco was around Ba Juldeh Bah, one of GDC’s stalwarts in Gallowya, few miles outside Brikama in the Western Region. We reproduce below a video of the wise and content old man Ba Juldeh who rejected NPP’s offers and inducement of a car and additional cash. The video was recorded by MC Cham Jr. who spoke to us Monday morning.
Barrow’s NPP sent a group to Ba Juldeh Bah and asked him if he was the GDC strongman in the area. He replied in the affirmative. “Then they said, what we want is: here’s a car for you. We want to give it to you so that you shift from GDC to NPP. We will add money to the car. When we have you, we will kill GDC in the area. In the same night, at the same meeting, I waited until they finished and I replied,” Bah said.
“My response was: Are you finished? It was four of them, two men and two women and the next morning was going to be a Thursday. And they said that very Thursday would be the day the car would step here. I asked them whether they were done with their talk, and they said yes.
“Such was what brought them here. I told them Mama Kandeh’s old shoe that he discarded is much better than the car they wanted to offer me. I would prefer such old shoe of Mama Kandeh to the car [NPP] offered.”
Bah added he told them his aversion to “riding in such a car of shame in Kombo here for people to say this old man has also sold his soul. You folks think I’ll risk such? I’m not such kind of person. Money won’t move me anywhere.”
“I’m GDC today [for better or worse] even if everyone leaves except me and Mama kandeh or even if I have to lose. But my vote is for Mama kandeh. And in Galloya here if there’s [a GDC] meeting anywhere that people want to attend but they lack fare, just contact me…and I’ll give you fare. I have witnesses here,” he noted.
GDC Exposes NPP’s Latest Voter-buying Attempt!
Editor’s Note:
We have been telling Gambians how devilish and desperate Adama Barrow and NPP have been well before the Suku Singhateh and Binta Cham brouhaha. We have a president who lavishes our poor country’s money not on buying basic supplies for our hospitals or maintaining our electricity and internet supplies, but buying loyalty and support just to stay in power.
We have been telling you that Adama Barrow would do anything to stay in power even though he is not delivering the basic services to Gambians. We have been trumpeting that Barrow knows he lacks support in The Gambia.
Still No Voter Registration!
Last year, we got a tip that Barrow planned to postpone the December elections only to blame it on COVID. We refused to publish the story first. Remember, Gambia is a very poor country where simple things take forever. Why haven’t we still started voter registration?
Because Barrow is still looking for avenues to either induce more and more people like Suku Singhateh with money, or bring in foreigners to vote for his failing NPP—a party and president the whole stadium left speaking to an empty space at its very launching recently.
To Fellow Gambian Journalists
Please don’t tell us you’ve not seen or heard these! Filling your space with junk isn’t going to help Gambia’s poor or rich. Our country is sinking back to seriously corrupt ways of a select few and you act like you’re in bed with them! We applaud the efforts of exceptions like Mustapha K. Darboe and others.
This should be a headline in all news outlets of our dear motherland. This is why Barrow’s fish money is D150,000.00 a day when most Gambians can’t afford rent on time, or buy basic food commodities. This is why Dr. Samateh is now getting D115,000.00 monthly allowance different from his salary and other benefits.
This is why our women are dying young from excessive bleeding at our hospitals that lack blood banks, gloves, oxygen, etc. The list goes on! Those of you calling yourselves journalists but look the other way while these are happening to our dear Gambia are devoid of empathy.
You will never allow yourselves to discuss these with any of us at forGambia News and Radio for very obvious reasons! You’ve been bought and paid for, yet still dress yourselves in clothes you never deserve.
We invite you to a debate about journalism and Gambia’s current situation, if you dare! But we bet you’ll never sit with us and talk about this! You take advantage of poor Gambians’ lack of understanding of either journalism or effective communication! Heartless traitors!
