FOLLOWING REMARKS OF
DRUG SHORTAGE, RISING
MORTALITY RATE:
MAI FATTY ALMOST ARRESTED!
State House Sources Allege!
Following a shocking and an unforeseen resignation from his position as a special adviser to President Barrow, Mai Ahmad Fatty was almost arrested for his remarks about drug shortage and its correlated rise in patient mortality rate at Gambia’s hospitals, very strategic sources told forGambia Friday.
“There’re no drugs in the country, the roads are in bad state and worst of all, our educational system is very poor,” Fatty was quoted saying at a press conference in Banjul Friday.
The Barrow State house hastily called an emergency meeting in which calls were made for the police to invite Fatty for questioning on his assertions.
Sources alleged it was the interior minister, Yankuba Sonko, who advised that it’s not a good idea to arrest Mai Fatty at this juncture. Minister Sonko warned that the country is tense right now and that the political situation is fragile, thus Mai should be let go.
However, Barrow’s advisers were still adamant and insisted that Mai should be called for Questioning. Until going to press Mr. Fatty was said to be a free man.
We wouldn’t know what follows next but the Barrow State House is thinking of turning to the police IGP Mamour Jobe to effect the arrest of Mai Fatty by Monday. This is a developing story.
