FIRST LADY APPROACHED FOR INTERCESSION AGAINST SANKAREH'S SACKING?

By Ebrima Papa Colley (Gambiano)

Reports reaching forGambia say Gambia Government’s spokesperson, Ebrima Sankareh “was sacked” this morning in Banjul. The same reports say, as we go to press, efforts were underground for the country’s First Lady, Fatou Bah-Barrow to intervene on Sankareh’s behalf.
Sources say one Mr. Conteh was appealing to the First Lady for an intercession. Consequently, the Personnel Management Office (PMO) in Banjul has put a hold on the alleged sacking.
A source told forGambia, “I can tell you that Barrow doesn’t trust Sankareh near him for what ever reason. I think the NIA might have got a damaging file on him while he was a so-called dissident in the United States.”
In a more urgent turn, sources informed forGambia that”There is total chaos between the Barrow government and the elite security chiefs and the intelligence apparatus following this week’s protests in the small nation’s largest commercial towns of Brikama and Serrekunda.
Our sources say, “The government is shocked and taken by surprise with the level of anger and frustration the protesters were venting across social media platforms.”
“I can confirm to you that there are imminent changes to occur within the top brass of the security chiefs,” highly-placed sources said Friday.
“The interior minister Ebrima Mballow may be replaced by M.A Bah or Mai Fatty. IGP might be replaced by former IGP Landing Kinteh or one Commissioner Demba Sowe. NIA’s Ousman Sowe’s fate is also said to be in limbo as State House is searching for a candidate to replace him,” sources revealed.
EDITOR’S NOTE:
While we may differ with certain individuals in the Barrow administration, we still sermon against frequent sackings and institutional mishaps, especially those imitative of the Jammeh administration. These never help our nation but inject fear and insecurity in the hearts of public and civil servants who may not even function at their best.
We hope that the Barrow administration proceeds with kind consideration in the case of Ebrima Sankareh, or any personnel that might be affected by the Barrow broom. We uphold the philosophy that where a boss commands, a leader shows how; where a boss shows might, a leader manifests motivational skill; and where a boss basks in proving dominion, a leader seeks simple role-modelling.
