WE TABULATE A BRIEF CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS IN ABIDJAN FOR THE LAST 48-HOURS BELOW; WATCH VIDEO BELOW TO SEE FOR YOURSELVES!

  1. Peaceful protesters came out in the streets of Abidjan.
  2. Paranoid security forces on hyper-coup alert opened fire on protesters, reportedly killing some.
  3. More and more people came out to join the protesters who were initially not many.
  4. The streets witnessed more and protesters which the security forces couldn’t control.
  5. Government decided to cut off power. 
  6. The military joined the protesters and took advantage of the situation for a coup.
  7. Earlier, Ivory Coast president agreed to house the largest U.S drone base in Africa which was kicked out of Niger.
  8. This angered the population amid the president’s generalised unpopularity, power hunger and running for numerous terms as the sub-region witnesses more and more anti colonial and anti-imperial winds. We are still monitoring the situation in Abidjan.
