Taylor in his rebel days with guards behind
Unconfirmed reports reaching forGambia say a former bodyguard of the 90’s Liberian warlord and later head of state, Charles Taylor is operating a business in The Gambia. forGambia has been sitting on this news pending further investigation. We choose not to identify the alleged former rebel operative or his new business in The Gambia until government authorities assume their responsibilities in thoroughly screening the background of business licensees in the country.
However, the alleged business is said to be a security company and it has allegedly hired some former rebels that are currently working in The Gambia. forGambia cannot independently confirm this development as yet. Sources intimated various security and vetting lapses in the country that has attracted an array of clandestine operations in the small tourist destination. Few weeks ago, a heavy quantity of cocaine was seized in a container belonging to Lebanese businessman Tajudeen and some co-suspects with Mauritanian registered nationality.
A source in the Barrow government, on conditions of anonymity  told forGambia that  there is actually a business run by a former Taylor bodyguard in The Gambia. “This could be correlated to the numerous deaths and escalating crime rate the country is battling currently,” the source added. Not long ago, a load of arms registered under the name of a Gambian businessman was intercepted by Gambian authorities. The nation is yet to be informed of any thorough investigation into the motives of guns shipped into the country by a civilian businessman, not the country’s defense sector.

Editor’s Note: We implore the Gambian authorities to do their work. forGambia is a brand new site. But we are being bombarded with very concerning information on a daily basis by Gambians in both the Barrow administration and civil service. Owing to a strong culture of bribery and corruption, these whistle-blowers, who seek neither favor, nor perk say their bosses take no action if they report matters of serious national import to them.  Is this why our country is seeing very serious corruption and crime these days?

Stay tuned for our next revelation. We have been sitting on that development as well and it is mind-blowing. We are a non-profit venture. That is why we don’t take advertisements or ask for donations. On different occasions have we been asked to open our doors to advertisments and we politely refused. While money can be this tempting, the paper is not a monetized engagement, nor is it interested in vainglory. But Gambia, which is far more important than this medium, is ours to cherish, adore, protect, value, and beautifully bequeath to our coming ones! Let justice guide our actions!
