Some French nationals were arrested in The Gambia with loads of weapons. Army PRO confirms arrests and possession of high caliber weapons with over 3000 rounds of ammunition!
Six French men and four Senegalese women have been arrested in the Basse area of The Gambia. The OC of Fatoto WO ll James Mallow who was a former body guard to Ex-President Yahya Jammeh is the one who arrested the French nationals.
The names of the arrested are: Diet Joel Jeay, Wilfred Joseph, Eric Andre, Potel Didier, Max Lucier Fernand, according to revered sources quickly wiring to forGambia News since Wednesday, March 11th 2020.
We chose to sit on the story without publishing owing to its very sensitive bearings. But it coincided with the sacking of former Gambia security baron, Ma Sanneh Kinteh, who until the same day had been the country’s Army Chief of Defense Staff (CDS).
We couldn’t care much because we, on several occasions reported looming major changes in the Barrow government. Thanks to our expose, a lot of them are always delayed or tweaked.
Meanwhile, the French nationals were reportedly arrested in a village called Kusun in the Basse area of Upper River Region. Found on them were 14 (fourteen) different weapons and 3,531 (three thousand, five-hundred and thirty-one) rounds of ammunition.
Sources say the men resembled mercenaries with undeclared arsenals seized from them on Gambian soil. We contacted the Gambia Army PRO, Major Lamin Sanyang who told forgambia that that the men claimed to be hunters.
But the “caliber” of weapons found on them was not suitable for hunters. He said the men were brought to the army camp in Basse and their weapons were seized. They were later handed over to the Gambia police and higher authorities.
