Reports reaching forGambia News say Gambia’s president, Adama Barrow has decided to cancel his trip to New York for this year’s United Nation’s summit scheduled to take place from September 18th to 19th 2023. Since this government has a penchant for fleeing from independent media, we could not get its side of the development.
Insiders told this medium that Barrow’s vice president, Muhammad B.S Jallow will be deputizing for him next month thanks to tough protests he faced last year from Gambians and Senegalese in New York. The embattled president was sneaked out of his New York hotel to avoid angry protesters in this last year debacle.
Our informers wrote: “President Adama Barrow has in a memo addressed to all concerned ministries cancelled his trip to the United States to attend the UN General Assembly…The vice president would deputize for the president with a delegation of thirty government officials.”
We contacted New York’s Lamin Sillah, a renown Bronx resident and an unflinching Barrow gadfly who led last year’s protest to the United Nation’s headquarters. Sillah told this medium this year’s protest would still continue. “We will still protest even if it is the vice president that comes,” Sillah reassured, adding that he and his team were aware of the huge delegation the wasteful government is sending to New York again.
We hope that the president changes his mind and dare come to the States since his government usually reserves a special treatment for our reports thereby making sure they prove us wrong. This is usually done by doing the opposite of what we report. Whenever we report a scoop about its newsworthy moves, the Barrow administration usually changes its plan. Please do the same again and come here!
