African American woman who went by the name Art Cathey and took the Gambian social media space by storm in the early 2020s has died, close associates reported. She used to live in the Senegambia area.
According to Travel with Tay Tay, another American repat to The Gambia, Art Cathey’s child’s father confirmed that she died on Thursday, January 8th 2026 in Ghana.
Travel with Tay Tay has a lengthy coverage on the sad news on her YouTube channel “Travel with Tay Tay,” saying she was in no way celebrating Art Cathey’s death even though the two had an ugly spat and law suit.
Even though Art Cathey had ruffled so many feathers while in The Gambia, we hope that both Gambians and her fellow Americans will find a way to forgive her short-comings. She ended up relocating to Ghana where she lived till her reported death. We Gambians will have our common Gambian way of forgiving her.
There has been a very dangerous drive with hidden hands and powers to pit black folks against one another. We pray that we all see the danger and conspiracy to stay unified.
