Since 2013, I came with the pen-name Gambiano for a reason! Yahya Jammeh was president, then. Yankuba Drammeh’s mother is still alive. Her name is Anyoguna Badjie, a biological sister of my own uncle, Batcharr Badjie of Bwiam Kankuntu. It was Batcharr Badjie that was like a twin brother to my biological father! Yankuba Drammeh’s grandfather was the late Fanding Drammeh. Adama Barrow, are you listening?

When my father was looking for a wife and wanted to marry my mum, it was always Batcharr Badjie who would accompany him. When he would come back for holidays from Saudi Arabia during university days, it was Batcharr Badjie who would accompany him to my mum’s father’s house in Bwiam.

Again, Batcharr Badjie was a biological brother of Yankuba Drammeh’s mother, Anyoguna Badjie. Batcharr played remarkable roles for me to be born. My siblings and I would still call him “Baba Batcharr” whenever he visited home in Brikama. May his soul and that of late Fanding Drammeh, Abdou Drammeh, Binta Badjie, etc., all rest in perfect peace. This is a very difficult article to write.

My late aunt, Binta Badjie of Bwiam Kankutu was also closely related to Batcharr Badjie, Yankuba Drammeh’s uncle. In fact, Binta’s son, Demba was named after Army Chief Yankuba Drammeh’s late uncle, Demba Badjie who was a biological brother of Yankuba’s mother Anyoguna Badjie.

Meta Gibba was Anyoguna’s mother. Anyoguna lived in Sierra Leone with Yankuba’s father, late Abdou Drammeh of Bwiam Kankuntu where Yankuba and his siblings were born. Two of Abdou Drammeh’s sisters were called Amie Drammeh and Antie Drammeh.

Yankuba’s father, Abdou Drammeh used to go to Sierra Leone for diamonds just like my mum’s own uncle called Kassel Sanneh of Bwiam. Kassel’s son, late Pa Ebrima Sanneh married my biological little sister. In fact, this Kassel’s last daughter was named after Yankuba Drammeh’s mother, Anyoguna Badjie. Again, you see why I call myself “Gambiano,” not Mr. Jola, Mr. Fula, Mr. Wollof, or X,Y,Z?

My wife’s last name is Bah. When Barrow became president and started sending his relatives to Makkah for pilgrimage, my wife realized that her own relative, a Bah, was invited by the First Lady Fatou Bah Barrow to go to Makkah. I condemned and lamented it, being the first Gambian to maintain a regular radio presence to inform Gambians of Barrow and Macky Sall’s plans!

That lady, the beneficiary of the First Lady’s Hajj package contacted her other relatives, including my wife’s family and told them, not knowing that Adama Barrow, Fatou-Bah Barrow, and their co-religionists were looking for my head! And when Jammeh was president, some Gambians asked me why I used the name “Gambiano.”

And when God was making all these relations happen, Adama Barrow wasn’t president yet! But why am I writing all these? Because one particular tribe has been a target of witch-hunting, killing, discrimination, purging from the civil service, installation of military and hazardous checkpoints, foreign military occupation abetted by Adama Barrow, and now a purging from the army!

Some Gambians did send me articles for publication, defending Foninkas and Jolas as they go through all these. I politely explained to them how I couldn’t publish them because others might see it as fighting for my own tribe. I don’t have tribe. I have Gambia! But others may not see that!

Please forgive me for using too many I’s in this write-up. It was never my intention. But as promised to Adama Barrow, Macky Sall and their lot, I’ll give you hell, Insha Allaah, as long as you continue to make our mothers and sisters and our poor Gambians cry!

You selected a specific tribe in our country and went on a purging spree to rid the army of them. When you planned it, I was informed in several phone calls by Gambians and I refused to publish it because of the same “tribe” thing. But today, your own security chief wasn’t born in our country.

What an irony, Mr. President and donkey slave to Macy Sall! Look at what God did here: Yankuba Drammeh could have been in a different field. But he’s in the army. And Allaah waited until you promoted him in your schizophrenic hallucinations that Jolas aren’t Gambian.

The poor Sarjo guy you made poster boy of your Alzheimic endeavor became too little for the big elephant in the cupboard! Now the world watches as you shiver in your filth as to whether to start the purging from the top or bottom!

When the list of Jolas was presented to Barrow earlier, Yankuba wasn’t chief yet. When Ma Sanneh was dismissed, I told some Gambians that it may have something to do with Senegal and how he might have showed just a shred of patriotism and nationalism—something anaphylactic to Macky Sall and Senegal.

So, naturally, Yankuba Drammeh would only say “how high” if asked to jump, or simply tender a resignation. Yankuba, we don’t have anything against you. But please can’t you see how our country has been taken over by Macky Sall, a filthily corrupt demon selling Senegal to both France and Frank Timis? Yankuba, as I type this, a 16 or 17-year-old Gambian is still held captive by Senegal for alleged fishing in Senegalese waters!

Yankuba, how many Senegalese boats are in Gambian waters while only one GPTC bus is allowed in Senegal a day? We can go on with the list of tyranny, right? But Yankuba, history is watching you. Very few people in this world make commemorative history!

My name is Ebrima papa Colley (Gambiano), and I was told that when I was born, CDS Yankuba Drammeh’s mother Anyoguna Badjie and her family were all integral to the naming ceremony in Bwiam Kankuntu. As far as this world is concerned, I’m nothing and I know nothing. In fact, “all I know is that I know nothing”. But I’ll continue to give Adama Barrow and Macky Sall hell on earth!

Barrow and Macky Sall have been coming for Jolas since they took over our country. Again, I don’t know anything. But I’ll leave all watchful Gambians, once again with a German philosopher’s reminder:

“First, they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”—Martin Niemöller
