To use Sanna Manjang’s arrest as currency to purchase more time for Ecomig’s presence in The Gambia. ECOMIG is supposed to leave again in January 2026 or months not far from that. But as it has been notoriously doing, the paranoid gov’t always pulls a trick.

Years ago, we tried to tell Jammeh’s people to tell him to stop releasing Whatsapp audios about coming to Gambia because Barrow would always use that to convince Ecomic to stay. Instead of redressing the enormity of injustice in Guinea Bissau, ECOWAS looks the other way.

But it came full force again on a Gambian matter where no military coup or election result overturn is happening. It released a statement addressing Jammeh’s mere Whatsapp audios as if Whatsapp audios from an ousted president are more of a security threat than what is happening in Bissau.

Every Gambian has to understand that Ecowas isn’t there for Africa’s peace and prosperity. It is there to protect corrupt regimes like that of Omar Emballo and Ouattara. And look how Gambia’s economy and citizen’s thoroughfare have been destroyed under the ECOWAS president Adama Barrow.
