According to reliable sources contacting forGambia News, Mr. ML Gibba is identified as a possible replacement of Mr. Ousman Jobarteh as the Managing Director at The Gambia Ports Authority. Gibba isn’t new to the role, serving in the same capacity during the Jammeh days.
Earlier Thursday, we received a tip mentioning two other former managing Directors, Abdoulie Tambedou and Lamin Sanyang but for some reasons it seems ML Gibba’s name came on top for the position.
“I think some board members and staff who were contacted by authorities firmly without hesitation recommended ML Gibba to come back. Even though the man is on retirement the GPA is hungry for his leadership.” A source stated.
A senior staffer at the GPA told this medium that “ML Gibba is the only person who can restore confidence and nurture a conducive environment for the General staff body. Even the dockworkers section will all be happy to have him back here.”
Gibba is a highly respected retired civil servant and was credited for championing a Science scholarship from all background during his tenure at the GPA.
He also sent a lot of staff for overseas training some of whom are now directors and managers in different capacities. Many senior officials were his products.
