Five family members from Senegal, including husband Djibril Diol, his wife, a toddler daughter, his sister and niece perished at home in a fire a patrolling police officer saw in Green Valley Ranch around 2:40am Wednesday morning, August 5th  2020.

Police are also relying on security camera footages to determine arson or any “bias” in the tragic incident. They have not yet released any statement on what has been seen in the footages so far. Diol’s street was filled with mourners and sympathizers.

The house located on 312 N. Truckee St., in a Denver, Colorado suburb was gutted by a fire authorities still connect to a possible arson attack, with in fact, “accelerated” means. Three family members sleeping upstairs were able to jump out of the building to safety.

Husband Djibril, his wife (unnamed), baby daughter, sister and niece couldn’t make it outside. Local reports say the police officer on a night patrol noticed some smoke and the house was in bigger flames before police and firefighters arrived.

According to Denver Post, “Muslim groups, including CAIR-Colorado and Muslim Advocates also offered condolences and questioned whether the fire was motivated by a hatred toward Muslims.” A GoFundMe website has raised $80,000 for the bodies to be jetted to Senegal for burial.

President Macky Sall, in a tweeter message expressed deep sadness and well-wishes to the three other family members that escaped by jumping from the second floor. Djibril Diol secured an engineering degree from Colorado State University, with “a promising future in Civil Engineering,” Denver post quoted the GoFundMe site.
