The West African Examinations Council has signed a letter it sent to forGambia News about Gambian  author, Samsudeen Sarr’s “Meet Me in Conakry” which was deselected for student use. The letter, signed by Mr. Sanji Fatty on behalf of Head of the National Office still maintains its original stance and is published with the council’s statement below:

“Please find attached, a reaction from the West African Examinations Council to Mr. Sam Sideen  Sarr’s article published in your reputable online news outlet wherein he alleged that his book Meet me in Conakry was cancelled for inclusion in the prescribed GABECE literature in English text for the period 2021-2025 based on his support for the APRC party. WAEC, Banjul Office will like you to publish this reaction for the information of your esteemed readers.”

We contacted Sam sarr Tuesday afternoon, local time and he stressed his same stance and response as before. We hope that both WAEC and Sarr work together in the nearest possible future for “Meet Me in Conakry” to be picked for curricular use. Click anywhere on the letter to view second page!
