In the picture above, there is a cluster of former United States presidents and vice presidents with spouses sitting together as if they had never battled one another for office. In this picture, they were shaking hands, chatting, and socializing as if they had never offended or campaigned mud-sling themes at one another. It all happened at Former U.S president Jimmy carter’s funeral who died December 29th 2024 at age 100 and was buried Thursday, January 9th 2025. 

Carter was America’s 39th president. Like his predecessors and successors so many of whom you’re looking at in this picture, he never had to flee America after his one term. His successor, Reagan never had to. Reagan’s successor, Bush Sr., never had to run away after leaving office. His successor, Bill Clinton never had to flee after office! Clinton’s successor Bush Jr., also in this picture never had to run away from America after his two terms. His successor Barrack Obama, also in this picture never had to go in exile after office. 

In fact, more interestingly, Obama’s successor Trump did just one term and still never had to run away from America. He was so sure of staying in his homeland that he campaigned again and just won this last election in November 2024. And listen to this: his successor Joe Biden will never see the need to flee America. This brings us to the gist of this editorial: WHY DO AFRICAN LEADERS FLEE THEIR COUNTRIES AFTER OFFICE?

Jammeh drew a cluster of regional leaders to negotiate his departure? Why? Why couldn’t we have a smooth transfer of power and sit together and drink tea as if we had never battled each other before just as demonstrated by these men and women in the above photo? As for Macky Sall, he never spent an hour in Senegal after leaving office! Why was that special jet waiting for him right at the palace? SHAME ON YOU AFRICAN LEADERS! The world doesn’t respect us because of you!

And you cling on to power as if you have tackled Africa’s most urgent problems of poverty, disease, malnutrition, low life expectancy, hunger, extremely poor electricity supply, etc., Or  have you discovered a cure for cancer and malaria! Racism against the African blood will continue because of this! We don’t have leaders. We have hustlers and status climbers filling their pockets! Just recently was it decried that planes couldn’t land at the Banjul Airport due to lack of electricity! I’ll resign as president if this happens under my watch! 

But a thick, low-IQ head will not see this as a mighty deal destroying the image of Gambia! Listen, reader; even most American blacks don’t respect Africans because we act sub-human even at leadership level! A president that can’t supply enough electricity to his country’s biggest hospital and single airport has failed infinitely! This is why Trump called us “Shit-hole countries” because of shit-hole leaders! Leaders who are closer to being animal than human!
