On Thursday, November 30th 2000, almost twenty-three years ago, Mr. Hamat Bah complained to the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) about Gambia’s former dictator Yahya Jammeh’s government. He said the then government had “skeletons in the cupboard.” There were no secrets about Jammeh’s human rights violations.

Also, in April 2002, the same Mr. Bah said it was difficult to run Gambian embassies abroad while the Dalasi depreciates. Today, there are too many unnecessary embassies under Adama Barrow. And the Dalasi and our economy are at a historical low in terms of performance.

Hamat wasn’t in the cabinet in 2000 or 2002. He was the leader of the NRP and a legislator. Hamat, today has a bigger impact on decision-making than in 2000 or 2002. But our economy and the dalasi are being ruined under his nose and jugular vein.

Is he making any comments on the redundant embassies and political appointments that routinely waste our tax-payer money under Barrow? Or was Hamat rational during Jammeh and drunk during Barrow?

Human Rights:

  1. Three Years Jotna arrested; court freed them only for Barrow to throw them back in jail.
  2. Yankuba Darboe dragged to court for no explicable reason; his time being wasted when he has work to do for the needy people that elected him.
  3. Alhaji Bora arrested and rearrested for no genuine reason; dumped in mud.
  4. Mankajang arrested unlawfully for just visiting Jululung with all the rights of freedom of movement, speech, expression, etc.
  5. Madi Jobarteh arrested, harassed different times.
  6. Momodou Sabally arrested, harassed different times.
  7. Ramou Sabally kicked by paramilitary in a vicious witch-hunting style.
  8. Pa Modou Bojang, Kerr Fatou, other media houses/personalities threatened by the president himself.
  9. Ousainou Bojang seized; no lawyer could access him even after 72 hrs. No journalist allowed to visit Jululung to ask simple questions while gov’t continues to spew an official garbage.
  10. Sheriffo Sonko arrested, just like Yankuba.
  11. The youths of Sanyang arrested en masse while killer Ganna Sey of Senegal and his types encouraged to kill innocent Gambians.
  12. Haruna Jatta of Kanilai killed by Senegalese forces in Foni.
  13. Ismaila Tamba shot by soldiers at a checkpoint in Foni.
  14. Youths of Foni hunt down, shot and killed…
  15. Our paramilitary officicers gunned down; gov’t wrongly accuses the opposition even before a shred of investigation commencing. The country could have been set ablaze if the UDP didn’t exercise extreme restraint!
  16. OMar Sarjo accused by the same liar Ebrima G. Sankareh of being a son to Salifou Sarjo who never sired a soul according the latter’s own account. Omar Sarjo removed from his legitimate job in the army, dragged to court for no reason; his rights continuously violated in broad daylight.

Now, where is Hamat Bah with all these happening in The Gambia? Please look at the historical evidence below. Zoom and read it yourself. The list of human rights violations isn’t exhausted at all! There is a lot more. This is just a quick skim!

Meanwhile, Gambia’s president, Adama Barrow has just pushed Ousman Sowe’s ministry of Local Gov’t and Lands under Mr. Baboucar Bouy who is at the same time, minister of Public Service, Administration Reforms, Policy Coordination & Delivery, reports reaching forGambia say Friday.

Sowe, who was believed to have been evacuated to Saudi Arabia following an alleged stroke is believed to be moved closer home at a hospital in Dakar, Senegal where he is being treated.
