In the Central River Region (CRR) Jangjangburreh area, angry youths blocked President Adama Barrow’s touring motorcade Thursday, eye witnesses say. The youths wore Barrow’s own t-shirt saying they “are without food, water, or transport” and would vent at the president.
Efforts made by the president’s sympathizers to block videos of the incident and youth frustration reaching outsiders was futile. The youths fell short of saying which towns they came from, wearing t-shirts of the president.
Earlier, we reported that some Gambian ladies in the North Bank area doffed off the Adama Barrow t-shirt, saying they had already received their money to do what they were paid for (wearing t-shirts and lining the street for the president).
The CRR governor intervened to placate angry t-shirt bearers saying, “I’d rather you grab my vehicle and throw it away than blocking the president’s motorcade.” The president later passed to his next destination. This is a developing story we are monitoring.
