Unindependent reports reaching forGambia say “there is a Gambian delegation in Dakar right now at a meeting about Gambia switching” from its post-independence Dalasi to French-neo colonial Communauté Financière Africaine (African Financial Community, CFA).This is a developing story and it is not confirmed who exactly is in the  delegation.
forGambia News has been privy to information regarding attempts to push Gambia into the French Zone not just monetarily. Attempts were underway to make French a strongly present language in the former British colony. The paper was not born at the emergence of earlier tips.
Sources informed since 2017 that France was pushing to exert its dominance on the new Gambia in the wake of a very weak leadership that lacks both critical thinking and governance know-how in Africa’s smallest nation with three different vice presidents in just two years.
The Bretton Woods Conference of December 26th 1945 marked the birth of the CFA, a political and economic tool France has been using to suck wealth from fourteen African countries since independence. French secretary of finance at the time, René Pleven, pretexted that the CFA was an insulation against unforeseen devaluation of the Paris Franc that may adversely impact colonies.
Guinea Conakry’s Sekou Toure was the only resistance to the Paris scheme when he declared his preference of freedom in poverty to “opulence in slavery.” Attempts by fellow African countries to withdraw from the CFA zone often met coups and violence. In 1985, Spanish-colonized Equitorial Guinea joined the Zone. Guinea Bissau, a Portuguese colony followed suit in 1997.
